We are deploying EKW and need to buy handheld scanners Honeywell CT70 is what we plan to order as we want WIFI 7.
We only have 10 devices. Curious what people are using for MDM and if they love Zebra more.
We went with Keyence for the built-in photo+AI+barcode reader, and they have their own “mdm” like management console. We talked to them and figured out how to run those devices in the Keyence portal and MS Intune MDM at the same time. Intune really manages the device and kiosking, and the Keyence mgmt portal allows for diagnostics and logging of the events (you can playback the session keystrokes when a user says it’s broke).

Keyence does not offer a WIFI 7 model so we will proceed with a Honeywell CT70 probably the CT70-L0N-058CS104G since it has FlexRange and is cheaper than the Zebra TC501/701
Long Android support is critical and Epicor’s model list they sell is very outdated. They told us it will be updated mid July with new models

I work for BISCIT as an EKW Product Specialist. The common MDMS I see customers with are InTune, Soti and recently a few people with NinjaOne. I haven’t spent a lot of time configuring the MDMs so I cannot speak to that side of use, but for the things I care about - where are the devices, is the device running the right version of EKW and can see/control the screen from my computer remotely, those three programs seem to do well.
I greatly appreciate the MDM advice!

That’s slick Mike, surprised we never connected on this. Did you ever get it to read multiple barcodes at once and pipe those into EKMW? I know some had that functionality, wasn’t sure if it’d work with the app.
We used SOTI in the past and it worked well to push out standard configs, data wedges, wifi passwords, etc… And it was great to remote to as well so you could see what was going on. But @MikeGross’s ability to “play back” is next level.
we’re just getting to that stuff in the deployment. I’m trying to get bartender to work for more than a week without choking so we can get to really using the barcodes and the EKMW barcode features.
What’s up with Bartender, lot of people here using it that may be able to help? You think it’s a version thing? I’ve found each one is touchy and has its own can of worms… i.e. I can’t review events in the admin console on integrations in one version… had to download ssms and query the database to get to the messages

trying to exhaust the diagnostics myself before posting here. It seems like it’s my fault, but I can’t “see” it. Still learning all the bits and pieces of how it works/how to admin it.
Interesting. I did not consider an EKW tablet. Why would someone choose to use EKW on a tablet vs a standard 6in handheld?
We wanted something that can be easily carried and put on forklift dashboard. Went with Zebra TC22. Currently using service desk MDM, works but left a lot of things prepackaged available to be accessed. looking at Ninjaone and it blocks everyting except what you allow on. We can also remote update them as well as geo track them (one person left previous scanner out in the rain overnight and could not find it). We found soft cases (looks like a large phone case) to help protect and find them (and the users like them).
Paul, check SOTI out as well- very robust compared to the other 5 MDMs we analyzed.
Since Epicor is in the web browser now, we are just going with some Android tablets. Its a tenth of the cost, bigger screen, and we can still customize things.
Previously tried the biscit handhelds but they are stupidly expensive, have tiny screens that couldnt even display part descriptions, and didnt allow for any customization which caused issues with some custom fields we had.
Microsoft InTune has been very handy and easy to manage devices; we’ve been on it for 4 years now.
EKW we use with barcode compatible devices. None of them are cheap.
We are deploying MES(Data Collection) using shop floor Windows 11 AIO computers and a few android tablets.
The EKW interface is much easier for our shipping and warehouse staff.
