Good Afternoon! I wanted to share something I’ve been working on. I built a VS Code extension for working with Function Libraries and BPM directives directly from your VS Code ediotr. AFAIK, I couldn’t find anything like it on the forum or internet, correct me if I am wrong. This does not have a dependency on Cloud or on Prem licenses.
What it does
- Pull EFx functions/libraries down locally
- Real time Function and BPM Syntax!
- Edit them in VS Code (with real editor features)
- Push changes back to Epicor
- Execute/test functions
- Work with BPM custom code more easily
- Create New Functions/Libraries
- Add References
- etc etc etc
How to use it
- Go to the repo and download the latest .vsix from Releases
- In VS Code:
- Open Extensions
- Click the … menu → Install from VSIX
- Install the file you downloaded
Once installed, you can start connecting to your Epicor environment.
Contributing
I’ve set the repo up so:
- PRs are required (no direct pushes to main)
- Code owner approval is required (so nothing gets merged without review)
- Basic validation runs on every PR
If you want to contribute:
- Fork the repo
- Create a branch
- Open a PR with what you changed + how you tested it
This is still evolving, so if something breaks or could be better, let me know.
Happy to take suggestions or ideas from anyone. As far as right now, I don’t have an auto-update pipeline setup or anything, when you install an update, best practice is completely uninstalling the extension and reinstalling. Please break it as much as possible! Haha.

Update 05/07/2026
Hi all. If you have this installed. Please download the latest patch. Part of my previous code to fetch errors for Efx Functions had a bug where multitudes of Sessions would be created when users would type faster than the server call returned errors. This created a runaway session generator. I implore you to download the patch. Also included in that version is plethora of new features. So…win/win. There’s no change to the helper utility.
