Epicor 9 - customer shipment entry ship from job field question

When shipping direct from a job, I have assumed the warehouse came from
the output warehouse/bin of the last operation's resource on the job.
Look in resource group maintenance. In our case, the parts on the order
& job are not in our part master, and the job is a single operation
make-to-order and it correctly chooses the warehouse/bin from that
resource (not from the plant default, which is a different warehouse).

Rob,

You are correct, thank you for the answer and quick reply.

In this case, though, I still have a problem. Any thoughts are
appreciated. I have two warehouses in the same plant. After blanking out
the warehouse record in the plant file, I was hoping the default
warehouse from the part master would populate in the shipment. It came
over blank. Of course it is demanding a warehouse, even though it is
shipping direct from a job. I get an error

I get the following error: "a valid WIP warehouse is reqd".

What is a WIP warehouse? Why do I need a warehouse if I ship direct from
a job?

In the customer shipment entry, on the Line detail screen, there is a "from Mfg" warehouse.

Does anyone know where the data in this field comes from, ie, it is filled in with a warehouse and bin, but I cant figure out where it is defaulting from.

Thanks
I thought it was from the primary warehouse/bin as defined in the part
entry. From there it should trace back to the partplant for the primary
wharehouse, and plantwhse for the primary bin..

Wip, in the context you are referring to is 'Work in Process'. This in
our world translates to the AMM (Advanced Material Management) where you
can track locations of parts/assemblies while in process on the job
(whether it is built to stock or sales order). This tracking system
exists outside of normal inventory tracking measures. Being that we are
only one plant, and our default shipping location cascades down from our
company configuration, I may be at a loss due to lack of experience in
helping you there. I may be able to set up a multi plant environment in
our test database to confirm this (how things cascade from company to
plant), but not sure what your time constraints are regarding this
issue, as I wouldn't necessarily be able to do that in a timely manner.

I'm not sure of the timing regarding this email and the offline I sent
you earlier today regarding stock and non stock parts, and how the
locations fill in when shipping from the job.
