I was waiting at a train crossing a few days ago and did a massive double-take when I saw what I thought was a massive Epicor logo rolling past on a tank car.
My first thought: “Is Epicor getting into heavy rail logistics now?”, “First advertising on Formula 1 cars, now on rail cars, no wonder they raised prices by 10%”
After a quick rabbit hole dive, I found out that Epicor’s older branding was inspired by Procor’s iconic industrial look, even the colors are very close. Procor is a major Canadian company specializing in leasing, maintaining, and building specialized railway tank cars and freight cars, serving industries like petroleum, chemicals, and food, and is known for its large fleet and extensive repair network across North America.
Not exactly related, but I saw a Canadian shipping company is Purolator (it’s on the QuickShip list). So of course I thought, “The oil filter company?!?!”
And… yes. They merged and split and it’s messy. But yes, it really was the same company.
