As UPS is moving towards dimensional rating has anyone set up Manifest so it will rate taking carton dimensions into account?
We established our Package Codes in Epicor (and Manifest)
Then in Epicor, at the time of Packout in Customer Shipment Entry, the packer enters the Package Codes. For example if it’s a 14x14x14 box, the code that the packer enters is 14. Then when they freight it, the carton dimensions info is passed to UPS.
Do you recall is that at ShipDtl from Packout or ShipHead
It is ShipHead.PkgCode
I should mention you do not have to use Package Codes. Your packers can manually type in the LWH in the fields ShipHead.PkgLength , ShipHead.PkgWidth, and ShipHead.PkgHeight
Shoot we do a lot of mixed stuff through the new GFP program so we might have different carton dimensions all on the same shipment order.
How do you do those? Phantom Pack or Master Pack?
To be honest I’m not entirely sure. I just know for sure they use Packout tab, and if I remember correctly Phantom Packs are generated. I don’t think we use the Master Pack function
Gotcha! Okay, then they can enter it on the Phantom Pack tab instead of the ShipHead. It is CartonTrkDtl.PkgLength CartonTrkDtl.PkgLength CartonTrkDtl.PkgHeight
I have seen companies use the Phantom Pack tab to do their dimension entry, and it works well for them.
So once the package dims are entered will Manifest rate based on Dim or is there setup required there do you know? If so I will contact them no need to and explain here LOL
This is becoming more of an issue for us as LTL has dwindled due to COVID. Looking to see if anyone knows once you provide dimensions to manifest will UPS freight on those dimensions so we can avoid these stupid charges. This was for last week alone. It’s hard to go back and ask the customer for those differences so we eat them right now.
Thoughts?
