We looked at both Customer Connect and eCommerce, a third party module. But neither suited our needs because they didn't support the Quote module. All of our orders, including spares, require a quote due to the complexity of our products, pricing, scheduling and commerce/export regulations.
Additionally, eCommerce didn't support the 9.05 Configurator as of February 2011.
But you can talk to your CAM about demos of each.
