Hey everyone more a wellness check on myself. Therapy is going ok but they think it may take another century to get over the trauma suffered from epicor.
After 4 years though, we are stilling missing most of our field help. Since epicor support is useless, thought I would see if everyone is in the same boat, or are we one of epicorâs âspecialâ customers.
The âTechnical Detailsâ tab often has some kind of a description even when the âBusiness Descriptionâ does not.
Agree, this has needed fixed for far too long. But always check the Technical Details tab.
Overall, Iâd say the Field Help is âmarginalâ.
The fact that itâs a LOT better than it used to be and getting better is not relevant when the field(s) you need it for arenât filled in yet.
Not everything is wired up correctly yet, so you MIGHT be able to find what you need in the Data Dictionary, but itâs kind of a longshot.
EDIT: and @dcamlin is also correct⊠very often Technical Details will have more info as well.
You can also use Application Help and there is generally a Details section there that at least says something about each of the visible fields on the from you are on.
Another path⊠though it doesnât help when youâre in an application and just want a quick peak. But if youâre ever in a bind, you can look in the Data Dictionary Viewer.
Load the table youâre working with and you can see descriptions of each field there as well:
The downside is this doesnât help with fields that arenât database fields. Calculated fields that donât have a table binding wonât be included here.
Yes always check both. Sometimes the technical help falls short as well.
Personally Iâve been using BAQ âtable detailsâ as a reference. Honestly havenât compared this to the technical details to see if they sync up.
Mostly just wanted to make sure I wasnât alone!
What table is this from?
Other options you have is the classic view if there is a classic version of the form and field is there to view, or data dictionary.
For on prem the table to see this info is the ice.Zdatfield.
There is also another tool⊠that @jgiese.wci built which is pretty cool Kudos Sir
100% agree this is a total PITA!
