Field Help Missing

Hey everyone more a wellness check on myself. Therapy is going ok but they think it may take another century to get over the trauma suffered from epicor.
After 4 years though, we are stilling missing most of our field help. Since epicor support is useless, thought I would see if everyone is in the same boat, or are we one of epicor’s “special” customers.

The “Technical Details” tab often has some kind of a description even when the “Business Description” does not.

Agree, this has needed fixed for far too long. But always check the Technical Details tab.

Overall, I’d say the Field Help is “marginal”.

The fact that it’s a LOT better than it used to be and getting better is not relevant when the field(s) you need it for aren’t filled in yet.

Not everything is wired up correctly yet, so you MIGHT be able to find what you need in the Data Dictionary, but it’s kind of a longshot.

EDIT: and @dcamlin is also correct
very often Technical Details will have more info as well.

You can also use Application Help and there is generally a Details section there that at least says something about each of the visible fields on the from you are on.

Another path
though it doesn’t help when you’re in an application and just want a quick peak. But if you’re ever in a bind, you can look in the Data Dictionary Viewer.

Load the table you’re working with and you can see descriptions of each field there as well:

The downside is this doesn’t help with fields that aren’t database fields. Calculated fields that don’t have a table binding won’t be included here.

Yes always check both. Sometimes the technical help falls short as well.

Personally I’ve been using BAQ ‘table details’ as a reference. Honestly haven’t compared this to the technical details to see if they sync up.

Mostly just wanted to make sure I wasn’t alone!

What table is this from?

Other options you have is the classic view if there is a classic version of the form and field is there to view, or data dictionary.

For on prem the table to see this info is the ice.Zdatfield.

There is also another tool
that @jgiese.wci built which is pretty cool Kudos Sir

100% agree this is a total PITA!
