Field Time and Expense Entry 905701

Sorry i'm not really a programmer, but why .NET over Service Connect. I think what I am going to do is use our current time sheet program, because it already has an approval process built in and is accessible to all employees without additional licensing. So i'll need to pull the project and job info from Epicor for the user to choose from. Then relate all that information along with the times entered back to Epicor.

I also built a .NET application that pulls employees times within a certain date range from TSheets and creates labor records in Epicor. In TSheets the id of the person matches the employee id in epicor, also when they clock in to TSheets they select a job code which relates back to a job number.

Anyone know of a good solution for Field personnel to enter their time and expenses. We have a custom program right now where a supervisor enter time for the employees working under him, including their travel time, work time, and number of Per Diems. I am thinking about using Service Connect to try and just map this information over to Epicor. But when talking with our programmer i am concerned about the entry program becoming to complicated b/c it will now have to include the Project, WBS, Job, Assembly, and Operation. Right now it just references a Project.

So how do you handle field people entering time against jobs? Does anyone use Service Connect for Something Similar? And is there anywhere I can get some better documentation on Service Connect? Epicor References some kind of Service Connect Documentation kit but i can't seem to find it. Also any examples would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bobby
If the manual has not changed too much I do recall there was a time and expense entry and approval ESC workflow that was an example for E4SE.

So it should be possible to load up some sort of pre-populated data for the Project, WBS Phase and Operation for them to put time against. Put the file on the server for ESC to import to get the time in. Then if they were approving remotely a web page that displayed the information and the ability to approve.

Alternatively you could use Epicor Web Access, but it can be slow.

Cheers

We use a website called TSheets that also has an iPhone app. We have two people here that approve the times in TSheets. I also built a .NET application that pulls employees times within a certain date range from TSheets and creates labor records in Epicor.

Our field group normally will VPN into our network and enter their own time. If they do not have access to the internet (very rare), then they will email their time to a support individual within their group and that person will enter the time.
