This has been bugging me recently. It’s so easy to call an automation studio recipe from a BPM, but there’s no built in support for it in a function

Voted! We’re looking into getting Automation Studio and surprised that you can’t call AS from a function…
My favorite new ideas:
Quantity-based Urgent Planning rules - KIN-I-6637 - This would give the option to change the method of manufacturing or change to a purchased part or vise versa based on the quantity of the demand.
Use Run Out Flag to Track Rev for Engineering Changes - KIN-I-6632 - this would allow for the effectivity date of a revision to be based on when you run out of a particular part.

For the CPQ users out there, please vote for this idea CPQ-I-316, to run the data transfer process, from CPQ into Kinetic quote, Asynchronously. Instead of users waiting 20 to 30 seconds for the process to end, they could move on to the next configuration immediately. Imagine no more complaints from sales about how slow CPQ is.

In the Multi Company area I have two clients that are now using it and both have ran into the same limitation where they cannot send any other type of AR Invoice and have it auto generated in the other company’s AP unless it’s related to an InterCompany Transaction (SO & PO). Which just means that for those types of ‘invoices’ the data entry has to be done twice and sometimes is a lot.
Over the years Epicor has really improved various Invoice type functionality, but Multi Company doesn’t get any of that.

Signature Capture - Need an Application Studio Widget to allow drive a popup to collect a signature
I am asking Epicor to add an Application Studio Widget to Kinetic that will provide a popup to collect a signature for our Counter Sale and RMA transactions. This signature will be stored in a UD field. This signature will be printed on the pack slip and the invoice. To Sambrailo Packaging Co, this is a mission critical component of our sales process. This has been the best “paperless” solution. We have used it in Classic since coming into Epicor in 2016. CSG said this is not available at this time.

The idea hasn’t been approved so we can’t see it yet. However, couldn’t they do it via a function call?

I did not realize there was an approval wait time. I guess I jumped the gun.

No worries, I was off to read the full story when I hit that approval wall.
Still, this sounds like something a function should be able to do. At least, our Classic UI coding went to functions so was trying to see why your need couldn’t be met. 
I have an idea, stop making ideas™ require pre-approval! Switch the Aha! config back to how it was before. Don’t be scared of honest feedback from your customers. If an idea gets posted that is negative or unclear, engage with the customer to address the concern instead of sweeping it under the rug. Fix the dev stonewalling of support so that legitimate problems don’t constantly spill over into ideas.

KIN-I-6579: Data Collection (MES) should allow all non-AMM shop transactions
The data collection module has many options that can be run directly from these traditional MES Screen, but some of the transactions appear to have a restriction that requires the AMM license before they can be done with the Data Collection Module. This idea is to correct the data collection screens so that all shop floor type tranactions can be done without the AMM license, unless they are truly part of the Advanced Material Module (AMM).

PARITY ISSUE:
KIN-I-4918: Kinetic Web Browser should release the license/session when the browser is closed
Kinetic Web Browser does not release the license/session if the user closes the Web Browser without using the “Log Out” option at the bottom left corner of the Epicor session (either Full or MES).
The license gets released only after the license timeout is completed as per the timeout set in user account security maintenance.
In the Smart client when you close out of a session it releases the license immediately. I would expect the web browser to do the same. Should not have to wait for a license timeout.

KIN-I-5365: Comprehensive request to re-engineer all of the Email actions and components in Kinetic
Synopsis:
Since Insights[2024], and technically before, a few of us have been talking about the mess that is the email communications and file-sending capabilities inside Kinetic.
BPMs, Alerts, Custom Code (by so many of us here), Document Sender CSG add-on, Advanced Print Routing, etc. are the proverbial “more than one way to cook an egg” and with technology, privacy, and cybersecurity rules changing every day it seems, these tools we have need to catch up and probably should be 100% unified into a Kinetic subsystem available at all points within the platform.

The 4 to 6 people in Epicor \ Epicor Support did not suggest that e-signature would be an option for the process we perform. In my light reading of the advertising, this is signing a document similar to DocuSign. In my experience with Docusign, this is not a real signature. We are collecting the actual signature on a small tablet. This is then applied to several documents which can be verified by the customer. I will ask CSG about this as another option.
Also ask them for details on why a function couldn’t do what you want. What specifically is needed?
Did not catch that you need a physical signature.
I guess the question is, is there something already in kinetic that can capture a signature? Or do you have something that can that has an api?

12 days and still not approved or whatever.
I think the problem is that I categorized it as ICE Tools (because it is), whereas I should have filed it under Kinetic so that it goes to Tim and actually gets seen. I don’t think anyone works in the ICE Tools section.
(Mine is only the 21st ICE Idea?!)
