Fulfillment Workbench and the Material Queue

We have been live on Epicor 9.05.606 since 1/1/2012, but have not used the material queue or allocations. We have a situation where it may make sense to use it (or something similar).

What we have is a customer that is requiring that all materials be picked from a single lot (everything is lot-tracked) which is not really a big deal. However, the customer also places POs with a large number of releases. What we would like to be able to do is reserve materials for the appropriate jobs that will fulfill the individual releases. This way we can go through the releases, assign materials to the associated jobs and identify when and what we will need to purchase to meet the single-lot requirement for each release.

I might be barking up the wrong tree looking at fulfillment, but I thought I would ask around and see if anyone has any thoughts on how to do this.

Incidentally, we have a huge number of material move requests in the queue which are totally bogus. Is it possible purge these and stop new ones from generated automatically?
