GL Account Balance Formula

In this article GL account balance as of today is the question about current GL account balances and how to calculate them. My environment is K22.1 Multi-company, multi-plant, fiscal year not aligned with calendar year.

In a BAQ, given a GL account number, I need to find the current account balance; does anyone have a short cut? It appears to me that a nice decimal number in a table entry for the account, does not exist.

I was put on the right track on another forum so I want to answer the question here. The field is GLPeriodBal.BalanceAmt which gets updated throughout the financial period. Thanks everyone!
