Help For A BPM Newbie

Yes, I think you might be right Stephen...

I am going to have a play around with this and let you know how I get
on... I will either get it to work, or it will drive be around the
bend...! ;o)

You mention using a BAM to print out labels automatically. This would
be very useful to do in its own right but again, I haven't done this
before. I may be back to you for some additional help if I get stuck
on this one...!

What is bar tender...? I am not familiar with this...?

Thanks,

Nick

Can anyone tell me if A BPM can be used for the following application
please...?

When I receive parts through receipt entry, I would like to look if an
entry for the part exists in the material queue, and if so, issue it to
the job, update the material queue, and print a tracking label.
Naturally if multiple entries exist in the material queue, then they
should be fulfilled until the incoming inventory is exhausted.

I haven't used BPM's yet, and I need to know if this is feasible before
I attempt to write one...

Any advice would be most welcome... I am trying to retain the
flexability of an inventory part yet treat them as a buy-direct part on
receipt. Not sure if that makes sense, but it works for us!

Thanks,

Nick Taylor
Hi Nick,

Yes it is possible but for a first BPM it is one of the
more complex ones to try...

You may find with your service connect experience that the best option
is to

Use the BPM to fire off a BPM workflow that does the required actions
within vantage (issuing to the job).

You can do the checking of the material queue from the conditional part
of the bpm.

To print, a tag you can use the BAM subsystem with auto print or write
out directly for bar tender to

Pick up and process.

Regards,

Stephen

Any advice would be most welcome... I am trying to retain the
flexability of an inventory part yet treat them as a buy-direct part on
receipt. Not sure if that makes sense, but it works for us!
