How do I add a set additional quantity to a job, but not let it affect cost rollup

I have an operation that requires an additional quantity to be issued.

I have my BOM set as 1/parent to be the REAL quantity, so a job of 100 needs 100, a job of 1000 needs 1000, but I also need it to add a standard extra 28 regardless of job quantity. Making the job 128 or 1028 and so on for the quantity to be issued.

I currently have this set as 28 in the scrap quantity, this works great for generating the extra to be issued, but when I do a cost rollup it multiplies the cost by 29 (the genuine 1 and the extra 28). The normal cost is approximately 11pence, but inflates to 29 times this.

I’m looking to see if there are other options for achieving the same thing without it inflating the cost.

I’ve looked into the costing lot size and haven’t seen this make any change when rolling up.
I also tried adding the part into the BOM twice, 1 as the REAL 1/parent and the other as a fixed 28. This generates 2 lines to issue and doesn’t break the cost (if there was way to make the MRQ suggestions for the 2 matching parts combine it would be great, but not sure if this is possible).

If I’m missing a totally different approach I would be very grateful of some tips.

Many Thanks.

you need to set the costing lot size in teh part/site table to make the rolllup correct. OR instead of a quantity scrap, use percentage.

I wish that like setup time, you could set fixed quantities of material to issue every X parts produced. Is say this because if you are doing an additional setup every x parts, there’s often material that you have to consume during setup… so it’d be nice that there’d be the same ability to treat material costs like setup labor time.
