Idea: Don't hide UD tables in DMT

Idea 4637: Log In - Epicor Identity

Stems from this issue.

The writeup:

DMT: Security Managers should see all UD tables in DMT

DMT changed along the way to show UD tables only if there exists an entry screen for it in Menu Maintenance. (See KB0127401 - reason is permissions.)

I would suggest that the restriction not apply to Security Managers. We have access to everything already. Please show all UD tables to Security Managers, always.

I don’t have any justifiable reason to make entry screens for tables that should not be edited. Sure, we do edit some UD tables. But others are used as a log populated by BPM.

If you wonder why I need the DMT if I am not editing the table:

  1. Sometimes I want to delete old data
  2. Today, specifically, I changed my mind on what Key4 would be, so I needed to copy the data to Character03 on 30,000 rows. (I needed one of the Keys to now be a GUID, to mitigate some duplicate record errors. )

Frustrating they added this layer of hoops to jump through.

One very enthusiastic vote from me!

Instead of waiting for Epicor use DMT to add all of the UD tables:)
I would created a submenu called UDTables place it under Business Process Management.

The fields were
Company
ParentMenuID
MenuID
MenuDesc
Sequence
OptionType
OptionSubType
SecCode
Program
Arguments
Enabled

In our system I enabled the menu items for every UD table and gave access to our system admins. So, most users don’t see it, but admins can use DMT.

Definitely, but to be fair, that didn’t work out so well for Boromir.

But to be fair… Frodo was a :eggplant: and wouldn’t give it to him. So, I guess we’ll never know.

And, well, they casted Sean Bean for the part, so it was kinda pre-ordained to not work out for him.
