Is it just me?

Sometimes a community needs to vent. This is the only place I know of where other’s share my pain. Is it constructive, maybe not. Is it cathartic….

Yeah, I suppose that would probably start fights, I was just looking for concrete examples so I would have a idea of what being better would look like in this case.

For myself I will try to keep the venting to more more private channels now - when you just get lots of positive emojis and banter its hard to realize there is also a group you are annoying.

I propose a new complaints category, all that crap goes there….

I was mentioning that as a bit of a joke but then again it does have some merit…

After working with Epicor for waay too long. I have seen the ebs and flows of product quality and customer engagement. Without Vantage Users and Epiusers I would have been rocking in a straight jacket facing the corner a long time ago.

The most important thing is keeping the core values, while at the same time attempting to, in the words of a now deceased Aussie politician to “Keep the Bastards Honest” regardless of how much influence we feel we have.

Agreed, there has been rough patches in the past and we’re in one now. It’ll get better soon I hope but when people are stressed they lash out. I can understand the increase in the anger level here. I’m guilty of it myself and will try to be better.

Edit: I grammar well fixed.

Make it logged-in only, add a rolling one week delete window, and name it The Void. Sometimes you just need a place for shouting into!

I love the rolling delete. I utilize that myself as well.

To absolutely no-one’s surprise, I am going to disagree. For every person who wanders on here asking, should I go to cloud (or whatever variation of that question), there are probably a dozen more who just read the existing threads and answer their own question. People should be able to see exactly what kind of issues customers are really experiencing, not put on a happy face because we think Epicor might deign to listen to us if we were just nicer?

Since we’re moving to Linux, we can call it /dev/null

I get not wanting every thread to turn into a :dumpster_fire: of :poop: posts. I even like the idea of a “Screaming Into the Void” thread/topic to allow people to vent. Not sure on the auto-delete part but open to be sold on it if it’s even possible. I don’t know the back-end abilities.

That’s not what I understood Brandon was saying, is it?

Collecting a significant sample size?

If more people are complaining about stuff than then that a damming indictment of the quality of the software? If lots of people come on asking for help with BAQs because they are trying to do cool things that would suggest the opposite. I think with the Classic and SaaS migration effectively happening at the same time expect more complaints.

@Banderson’s point is more around the replies to actual questions. This thread is probably not a great example, it’s off topic and we are here to share thoughts and vent at times. It’s the consistent negative replies when someone is looking for help. Id someone posts about help with linux containers after the upgrade, we need to leave that thread to supporting the topic.

On a call with Epicor yesterday, they spoke about the level in which they monitor this site. As they consider this to be part of the voice of the customer. They and we are thankful for the unofficial partnership.

One topic brought up related to support tickets is that escalating the issue on EpiUsers is not going to get the PBR escalated. They monitor a case to PBR number and prioritized. Makes sense to me. So if you are experiencing the same issue, open a case and reference the PBR or other case.

I get the point, you dont want a pile in with every one just posting XY an Z is awful etc. But there is a negative temperature in the room being driven directly by Epicors strategy. Epicor pin the future to Kinetic in the cloud and lots of people are unhappy with that for many reasons.

The linux containers was always going to be a moan fest as it looks like a bunch of people were volunteered into testing something, regardless that it is a really good direction to in. In reflection in the same month~ prob not best to:

1 - Be the sunset of a GUI a bunch of people are passionate about
2 - Announce to the world that on prem is being removed, again a feature people are passionate about
3 - Deploy you new technology stack outside of a very, very confined group.

Yeah, so for one, you all need to knock off the foul language. This isn’t Reddit. It’s been mild here for the longest time but many of you are unhinged now.

Two, in defense of @aosemwengie1, she has been trying to make us all aware of the Kinetic/cloud limitations for years and most people have spent that time dismissing it as “Glad I am on prem and still have the client!” Well now we all are facing down the abyss and are flabbergasted that there are bugs. Where were you all before this year?

But overall, I do agree that there is a ton of complaining and not enough problem solving or reporting. No one likes the always-negative employee at work. Some cautionary warnings are welcome, sure. But just being angry is toxic.

Yes, I am guilty of some of this, too.

It’s time to be civil again.
