If you are using Epicor 9.05 you can use an updatable dashboard and make a field in the dashboard edit enabled.

Subject: [Vantage] Is it possible to make an editable field in a Dashboard gridview?

I have a dashboard set up in MES and I need to give the leads the ability to edit a JobOper.comment field that I have in the gridview.

So is an editable field in the gridview possible?

Instead of built-in Vantage dashboard functionality, you could consider creating an ASP web-dashboard and using ODBC to update whichever field you want.

Here’s a good product to EASILY create awesome looking ASP pages: www.asprunnerpro.com

Turn on IIS on a server, put ODBC on the same server, and use this to generate your dashboards. I do it all the time. Even though it uses your internet browser, you can still add it as a menu item from your Vantage menu.

My disclaimer: Be careful. :-)

But I do this all the time. For example, we want to edit notes on AR Invoices or UD fields in Job Entry for notes. Once the Job or Invoice is closed, you cannot get to those fields in the UI unless you open things back up. With this, I have a dashboard of Job or AR notes..... simple screen, Invoice or Job Num is read-only but the notes fields are editable.
