Is there a way to control column width when exporting to excel

When I choose Output Format Excel-Data Only in a BAQ report that uses a tablix, I get a nice Excel spreadsheet with uniform width columns and a header row. While that is “serviceable” I was really hoping to set those column widths according to the data in them like I can in the SSRS builder. Is there a trick?

If I understand your question correctly, you will open your version of the report, _ExcelDataOnly, in Report Builder. Once you are there you can make any adjustment and formatting changes you would like.

A-ha! I had no idea that was there. That must be why the first time sending one to Excel takes so long… because it’s generating that extra RDL file. I am supremely grateful for your accurate and quick response! Have a great weekend!

Cool, I didn’t know that. Thanks!

Since you’re so keen on this stuff, what do you know about changing the filename that is generated? Is there a trick to that? I know how to change the page name… but the file name comes in with a bunch of junk in it.

And a happy Figure-it-Out-Friday to you! :face_with_monocle:  :star_struck:

Turns out, it’s the name of the report as you named it in the BAQ report designer. But when doing a test print, it’s a bunch of nonsense. So I guess that worked out after all.

Haha! Thanks, @Mark_Wonsil!! Hey, we gotta take em where we can get em! :yum:
