Job Entry - Resequnce Operations and/or Materials

All;

Epicor has opened an Enhancment Request to this issue.

If your company has the need in Job Entry to Resequence Operations
and/or Materials (like you can in EWB and Quote Entry)....please call
or log a call with Epicor referencing this Enhancment Request #

ENH 3197ESC - JM Resequence operations not available in job entry

Maybe if there is enough demand for this request, it will get bumped
up on the "list".
Thanks
Patty Buechler

Does anyone else run into this issue:

In Job Entry, if I need to insert a couple operations where the Op
Sequence #'s are already tight and now I am now running into the issue
of not being able to insert.

Patty... I have asked that question for years now.

We have been too!
Not that I question you...but I do not see this item listed on the
SP406 Change List. Could this be one of those "Undocumented fixes"?

Hi Patty,

I made a quick look and it appears that only EngWB and Opportunity/Quote
Entry allow you do resequence in 9.

Mark W.
Thanks Mark. That's what I thought.

Just wondering here Patty,

Is it possible to go to list mode, copy the entries out, paste into Excel,
delete all operations, resequence in Excel, copy and paste back into
Vantage?

Mark W.
Patty,

It is a (rare) problem for us as well.

Our legacy system had a similar issue, so we simply set up our routings (methods) long ago to have LOTS of # space between OPs (typically in increments of 10 to allow later insertions if needed).

I think I understand Epicor's quandry. To change an OpSeq in a Job, you have to update up to 4 tables (at least?) simultaneously: JobOper, JobOpDtl, JobAsy & JobMtl.

The native control is only linked to JobOper & I don't readily see a method for the JobEntryAdapter that supports changing OprSeq values (that is a key link across those tables).

:(

The more static nature of method maintenance (you have to unapprove/checkout a part rev method to edit it - with no chance then of it causing other process issues as a result of momentarily out of synch values). Rightfully, once unengineered (necessary anyway to edit details) the same is true.

Maybe they just didn't think of it?

Sounds like a reasonable enhancement request (that probably might have a chance for inclusion on later v9 releases - if not already supported off the bat).

If you do put in an enhancement request, please let me know & I'll see if we can piggyback it to raise the possibilty of it being implemented.

Rob

Sorry Patty. Just a habit I have to put my version out there so when
asking for help others know what I am working with. Didn't think
about how that looked when I replied.

It is all good....I just realized my subject line is Reschedule when
I really meant Resequence.

Thanks for the responses. I am going to follow-up with Epicor with a
request to escalate the enhancement request. Once I get the Request
#, I will send it to this group (and EUG) and plea to piggyback with
me. As much of the battle I have internally to get our Engineers to
use the EWB more, we still do a lot of on-the-fly jobs.

Thanks.
