Job pick list

Does anyone know if there is a way to remove or hide certain parts on a job picklist? We have shelf parts and raw materials on our jobs and when we run and print the job picklist, there are raw materials on the list that our stockroom team does not pull from our stockroom cage. We are trying to minimize the amount of paper we are printing.

Do these parts have separate product groups or part classes? If not, you could also flag the raw materials using the raw materials checkbox on the site.

There’s the Raw Material checkbox in the Part Master that doesn’t really do anything as far as I know.

You could check that on these raw material parts and then exclude any parts with that checked from the pick list.

Edit: HA! I should read all the responses first. Great minds…

Hi John - they have the same group but different part classes. What does marking the raw material box actually do?

Nothing. At least I have never found anything attached to it from a process, report, or frankly anything. @Chad_Smith mentioned that he was not aware of it doing anything either. @Ernie , do you know any of the history of this field? Or maybe @timshuwy ?

I have seen it used as a filter for instances like this. Since it is on the PartSite, you can easily bring it into reports to use. You could go the route of using Part Class to filter, that would just require more hard coding which classes were raw.

what I have done in the past was to “mark” the partdtl in some manner… either partclass (like someone above mentioined) or a UD field… or in one case, we used the BACKFLUSH flag (since backflused materials dont need manually issued). Then we modified the picklist, AND the Job Traveler to skip these materials.

Nope… never used it myself, don’t remember ever seeing it used by any internal process.

Sorry!

So basically there is no easy way to do this, is that what I’m hearing?

If you don’t consider modifying a SSRS report easy, yes :man_shrugging:

Ok good info and thanks to all! Have a good rest of the day and a wonderful weekend.

I’m not even sure you would need to modify the Report. I suspect you could just add the criteria directly to the RDD and call it a day.

Depends on your skill level. It would be easy to identify all of the Part Classes that are considered raw material and pull them from the system. Then you could DMT the Raw Material flag on for all of them. Then edit the RDD to expose the field and add it as a filter option.

Don’t mean to sound pompous, I just know there are people with different skill levels here.

I just figured out that our pick lists are displaying raw materials AND parts are being duplicated due to on hand stock in multiple bin locations. Is there a way to filter the duplicates out?

Not that I am aware of, but you could probably do something on the RDL. Why would you want to remove them? What if the one that is shown does not have enough quantity to fulfill the job? Or, what if you need quantity 4 and there are 4 bins with 1 piece each? How would the picker know where to go?

Well, if you wanted to get fancy, there is always Job Fulfillment in the Fulfillment Workbench…
