Kinetic 2025.1 Scanning special characters

I am having a problem with 2025.1 where the scanner is not honoring special characters. I have this problem with many environments.

We use concatenated values in a barcode to simplify some data entry in data collection screens. We use ^ or + most of the time.

Right now, I have a barcode that should read 000004-1-1+0+10 but is returning 000004-1-1=0=10 or 0000)4_1-1=0+10… essentially, it is randomly using SHIFT to change characters in a barcode to the related shift key value.

I’ve tried various programming on the scanner, and I can’t get this sorted. If i scan the barcode on a web browser, notepad, excel, word, etc, it always returns the correct value. My problem ONLY exists in Kinetic…browser and installed application both.

Has anybody else seen this? Have a solution? Epicor won’t acknowledge this as a bug YET.

We are seeing a similar issue after our upgrade this weekend to 2025.1. No resolution yet.

We opened a case (CS0005059209) but are getting no traction on this. I got some suggestion that I don’t really understand: Unlike the DWBar39 font, Code39, Extended Code39, Data Matrix, Code 128, and QR Code is not simply a character replacement for the ASCII character. It requires calculations to determine check bits.

I am coming from another post USB scanner issues with Kinetic where we have the same issue. I was wondering if you had come up with anything here that may have resolved the issue.

No. It actually just kind of fixed itself with the .12 patch / update. no reason and epicor never admitted it as an issue, it just suddenly stopped happening after that patch.
