That’s irrelevant to my point missy. Quiet down now.
What’s your point?
Please report this to support. Not sure why you would continue to get suggestions. This is a different matter than the help field missing.
Well I was going to, but when I failed to find any documentation whatsoever in any of the kinetic help, I went back to the classic help, which says that’s actually how it is supposed to work.
I hate to get into this but I believe the MRP engine does generate suggestions but when users go to firm the suggestions it gives them a warning that they can click okay on, blow past, and claim they never got and then yell at the admin that the system is broke.
Not that I know from experience or anything.
Ran into this yesterday afternoon. Someone had (apparently prematurely) tagged three private-label parts with the Run Out setting…but the customer still placed valid dropship orders for them.
PO suggestions were generated BUT would not allow the actual conversion to a PO - instead popping up with a message: The following parts are phased out. Would you like to use substitute part?
Unchecked “Run Out”, regenerated PO suggestions and we were able to convert to POs.
Alyssa, The idea you submitted was too generic and not specific enough to be acted upon as an idea… I could not create an “Epic” to deliver to the dev team (the normal path for ideas). It did not mention “Help” or help fields in any way. It DID mention some “parity” issues, but still no specifics. The idea was closed as “completed” with the comment:
Thank you for creating this. Epicor Ideas is meant to capture enhancement requests for the product vs. delivery commitments, communications, and plans. In the near future, we are sending out a survey via EpiUsers and EUG to gather information on ‘parity gaps.’ Please look for the survey arriving in the next few days.
Note that we did create the survey that you participated in. We are still reviewing the survey both internally and externally with a Customer Product Advisory Board just this past week.
If you would like to submit an idea regarding help and how it should be improved, I will make sure that it goes to the proper channel.
I’m not sure what idea you are talking about. I am talking about this one:
https://epicor.ideas.aha.io/ideas/KIN-I-6515
We really need to create an Idea to make Help useable like Classic Help? I’ll do it if necessary however, I’d think this thread alone shows the need.
Sorry, i was talking about another idea you submitted. This idea is assigned to the Epicor Learning team, which i have no ability to make visible myself. I will ask the EL team to make it visible.
But what does it do with that demand then? If the system has demand (runout or not) it better not just simply ignore it!. The current functionality is on order entry, if it’s set to runout, it warns you that the part is set to runout. After that, it’s up to the people putting in the orders. If you have minimum on hand set, you have some demand that the system has to do something with. If you don’t set all of your stock settings to 0 like you should, I feel like that’s on the user to understand the system.
Your business might want to make that runout flag have teeth to tell MRP to ignore it, but other businesses might not want it to be that strong of a setting.
Yeah I mean that’s a good point. I think run out is like a lot of other settings in Epicor - nobody really fully understands how to use it and its confusing in practice. What is the right way to handle a discontinued product, i.e. CAN’T get anymore? What about a product we want to continue selling direct but not stock? Just seems like the way it works now is sort of half baked.
