Hey Beth!
I do not see it in 2025.1 or 2024.1. This looks like a parity issue that should be reported. The field search does not return anything for “alt” on the lines screen.
Kinetic Help for 2025.1 does not show the “upsell” or “Alternate” capability either.
ERP Help 2025.1: Creating Sales Orders - Adding Lines
Maybe others know where it might be.
Mark,
I reported issues with Substitute/Alternate Parts back in 2024.2.3 (January) and had PRB0292322 assigned. There is no workaround, and no release planned.
“Substitute Exist Shape Doesn’t Show in Sales Orders for all substitute types. As of now it only shows for Substitute Types that are comparable, not for downgrade or upgrade”
we did address a problem where it was not very evident that there were substitutes. We added the yellow banner becuase the three little icons at the right were not very evident. They USED to be right next to the part number in the smart client, but that was not practicle in the browser, so they were moved to the banner section. Here is a screenshot of the full display, followed by a screenshot of the same icons and banner in the grid view in case you enter lines from the grid.
As we said at Insights, make sure that you are on a later version (2024.1, 2024.2, or 2025.1) to get the best of all that we have done over the past 3-4 years.
Ah, found it in the help but not in the Adding Lines Section:

I’m glad you said something @timshuwy. PRB0292322 is still open so I had no idea this feature was completely fixed. Just tested in 2025.1 and it works great. Thanks!
Thanks for this! I did find that if I check “default” in the Alternate part, a slide out happens when entering the original part number on the Sales Order line and the part is checked for Run Out, Inactive, or On Hold in Part Entry. This will work for us better than an icon that looks like the Rate Shopping icon
I will test this option out, but I think the other will work better for what we are trying to do.
One other question I have though, is there a way to only discontinue a part in one site?
no.. part discontinue is at the company level.
Thanks, Tim. I guess I can submit this as an Epicor idea…
Is there a way to make a part site specific so that any orders or purchases can only be for that site?
