You know how you can run order job wizard from Order Entry and instantly create jobs for make-direct releases without waiting for MRP to run? Wouldn’t it be great if you could do the same thing for buy-for releases and instantly create the POs without running generate suggestions? Does this already exist?
There are a lot of unknowns on the PO side, like who the vendor is, price, due date, etc… Unless you have everything tightened down with approved suppliers & price lists.
I suppose you could create a new form with all the required prompts… but you’d also have to lock it down with Buyer permissions… or perhaps have it only create unapproved PO’s.
Could you create a button on the Order Release form which would run the Generate Suggestions process filtered by the Part on the Order Line? Wouldn’t create the end PO… but would at least get it on the Buyer(s) radar without having to wait for your scheduled nightly MRP to run.
You can already specify the supplier in the order release once buy for is checked. Price comes from the supplier price list, and due date comes from the ship by date on the order release. Epicor already has all the information needed to generate the PO suggestion - I just want to be able to do it on demand for a single order instead of running generate suggestions, exactly like you can for make direct jobs.
Yes customization would be an option but before going down that road I like to check if there isn’t something built in, and maybe write an Idea for it

Have you tried capable to promise on the sales order line? From what I recall, our product support department does this and never looks at suggestions. The only snag we run into is that once the PO has been suggested, they cannot run the wizard and they don’t know how to order from a suggestion 
Is CTP for POs? I thought it was just for jobs? Maybe I need to look into that.
Yes I just confirmed we are using CTP to generate POs. We have the Raise PO’s on CTP Confirmation checkbox set in Company Config (Modules>Sales>Order>Buy To Order section). Epicor help file indicates that needs to be set to create POs instead of suggestions for BTO. Hope that helps!
