Norton Utilities can "undelete" NT files (boot off the CD if you get it
[rtfm]) However, like any such utility, there's an ever increasing
possibility that something else has overwritten the data with time.

Any chance you just moved something by accident? It's easy to do in
windoze explorer. Try going to the root of the drive where the stuff was,
and doing a Find with nothing specified. You'll get a list of everything
on the drive. Clicking the column headers to sort by size or date may make
interesting things pop to the top.

Make sure you get Epicor's document on 4.0 backups. Just copying or taping
the files from an NT point of view doesn't cut it.

Luck!

Hello-

Sometime earlier this week, while working with Vantage support to try and
get Report Builder running, we lost a good chunk of our Vantage files,
include the DATABASE (I was uninstalling/reinstalling Progress with their
assistance)!! Epicor said this has happened before to other clients where
the database has "mysteriously" disappeared! We run a tape backup every
night, however, we can not find a recent backup of the database. In
addition, we have searched the Recycle Bins and found nothing. Luckily, we
just converted to 4.0 two weeks ago and I have a copy of the 3.0 database as
of 11/3 (however, since we only ran Vantage for accounting purposes only in
3.0, we need to re-establish all of our workcenters, warehouses, employees,
security permissions, etc.)

Is there anyone else out there that has been in this position before? I am
trying to put together a list of what all needs to be re-input and in what
order. Are there any shortcuts, ideas to make this as painless as possible
- thank GOD for a 3 day weekend!!

Thanks in advance!

P.S. - Is there anyone in NE Indiana with Vantage expertise that does any
independent Vantage consulting??? I may be in over my head as a controller
trying to act as an IS manager!!
