Subject: RE: [Vantage] Mandatory Field
The BPM would actually be very easy to setup.
You will want to go to your method directives load in the directive that
you
need to focus on. Lets say we are going to check for the Burden Field on
the
part master.
You would want to load Part.Update.
You will then select that you want a new "Pre-processing" bpm.
Give it a name and either set it to a group or not (the group is up to
you)
Your condition is going to be "the specified field of the changed row is
equal to value"
You are then going to click "specified" Select TTpart from the drop down
and then locate the MTLBurRate field click okay.
Then select value and check the null check box.
Now for the action you want to select "raise exception based on designed
template"
Select designed and then fill that form in.
You will then need to set the BPM to compatible if it is not and enable
it.
This will stop the user from moving forward with out first putting at
least
something in the burden rate field. To be honest this field may already
be
mandatory I'm not sure but it was just an easy example cuz I was already
working on that field.
Now if you had a whole list of fields you want to check you have an
choice
to make. You can create 1 BPM with multiple " the specified field of the
changed row is equal to value" with ands in between each and one general
exception message or you could have a bpm for each field and have an
error
message for each field so that the user knows exactly what field(s) they
missed.
Or........... you could just charge them 10 dollars each time they miss
a
field and forget the whole BPM idea..

The easiest solution is to set up a BPM that checks each field for
content
and then flies an error message when one isn't filled in.
Let me know if you need more detailed directions.

Subject: [Vantage] Mandatory Field
Happy Friday everyone!
Would someone direct me in the right direction in creating a mandatory
field please...
We have a new hire that is missing entries a lot and we would like to
make the
Quote Contact a required field, so that she has to input the contact
before she can save the record.
Thanks!
