PO BMP Blank Title 66498

Vic,

In our version of Vista 8.03.405B, when using this setup for a
required field, I receive the following message:
---------------------------------
Warning - Mandatory Row rules are an unsupported feature that may not
behave uniformly across all business objects in the application. If
you wish to continue to use this feature please test to ensure
expected behavior for the instance that you are developing. The
preferred technique for ensuring mandatory fields is to use a BPM
directive to test condition for empty string and raise appropriate
exception action.
---------------------------------------
I am able to setup mandatory fields as a BPM that works.

I found an example in the "Business Process Management Student Manual"

Going through the Apply Credit Memo menu in A/R General Operations appears
to work just fine, but the transaction doesn't hit the General Ledger.

Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to fix?

Thanks for your help

There is no GL transaction when you apply a credit memo because you
are not changing the balance of AR for that customer, you are just
reducing the amount of an invoice by the amount of a credit memo - no
net change to the GL.

After going into Customization and make the field mandatory you then go into
Menu Maintenance set that customization for the Entry Screen and next time
your users log in they will have the Customization you created.

Easy, it's all documented in version 8.x Help. Hit F1 and search for
"How do I set up a required field?"

Or, here's the contents:

How do I set up a required field?

Purpose

You can indicate that a field is required, or mandatory, by using the
Rule Wizard
<file://SEAHAWK/epicor/mfgsys803/Help/enu/Vantage/User_Preferences/Custo
mWizardRule.htm> . You do this by first creating a mandatory rule and
then adding a mandatory rule action to it. Here's how:

1. Within the Customization Tools Dialog, click on the Wizards tab
and the Rule Wizard tab.

2. Click the New Row Rule button.

3. For the Rule Description field, enter a description that
indicates this is a mandatory row rule. For example: MyMandatoryRule

4. Now on the Select View list, choose the table, or dataView, that
contains the field you want to make mandatory. For example: ShipVia

5. Set up the rule condition so the Select Field is always equal to
itself. To do this, select the same option for the Select Field and Rule
Value lists and then select Equals for the rule condition.

Example: You want the Web Description field to be mandatory on the Ship
Via Maintenance form. Because this is a character field, you choose
these options in the following fields:

-Select Field: Character01
-Rule Condition: Equals
-Rule Value: Character01

This makes the field mandatory, as the rule condition
Character01=Character01 will always evaluate to true.

6. Click the Right Arrow button to add the rule to the Custom Row
Rules list.

7. Now click the New Rule Action button.

8. In the Select Field list, choose the field that you want to be
mandatory. For example: WebDesc

9. Next, in the Setting Styles list, select the Mandatory option.

10. Click the Right Arrow button to add this file to the Custom Rule
Actions list.

11. Click the Update button.

Now when users try to save a record and the selected field is blank, an
Application Error message will appear. In the example below, the user
tried to save a Ship Via record without entering a Web Description.
