Master Methods Listing/Report Builder

We have 3.0 and do not have the ABOM, but I believe we solved the
problem you are having in what we call our Job Structure Report which
shows all assemblies, operations and materials (linked to the
operation), for any job, one at a time. Using a quantity of one, we use
the report to verify our job structure, quantity per parent, etc. This
way we can look at the entire job instead of just a piece of it on the
vantage job entry screen. We also have two simple job material summary
reports, one is by the assembly and the other is by material part
number, both total the material requirements.

I will ask our report writer to upload these three reports along with
our Shortage Report this Friday.

Steve

Ps Sorry about the delay in uploading our shortage report as I have
been out since last Wednesday and our report writer will not be in until
Friday.

Subject: [Vantage] Master Methods Listing/Report Builder

Has anyone tried to re-build the Master Methods Listing using
Report
Builder? I am in the process of doing that. I'm almost done but
I
have a little problem when we use more than one part material to

build the final product. In other words, if our final product is
made
of one single part material, my report works pretty good. I get
the
part material specifications and then all the operations
sequences
the part needs to go through. But, when the final product
requires
more than one material, let's say 10 different parts, I cannot
get
those 10 different parts list together at the beginning of my
report.
Instead, I get an endless report of 10 times each operation
sequence
under each material part.

If someone tried to do this before:

1. Can I get your version of the report so I can add the the
extra
info we need in it? Or ...
2. Can you give me a hint on why this is happening and how to
try to
solve it?

Thank you in advance! Angela.

I have never tried a report like this, but if you are trying it in Report
Builder, I have doubts that it would work. The reason being, you are
joining the job Header to the job assembly, and then the job assembly to
BOTH the jobmaterial and job operation tables. Therefore, it will print all
operations for EACH material record, resulting in duplicate records. I do
not believe report builder has the required tools to print one of each
material and one of each operation.

I would suggest using crystal or Access with ODBC and writing subreports of
the material and operations and linking them back to the main report
Job/Assembly. I know that is not the best solution, but I'm not sure if it
will work in Report Builder. Maybe someone else knows of a way...

Sarah
Try a counter, then add the material lines to print on a conditional line
when the counter is one.
You may need a second variable if counter is 1 then the second variable is
true print the conditional line when true.
