Menu Structure

Tim Ligas posted yesterday that the menu thing is fixed and is in testing now. A conversion program should be available very soon.

As for RB, it works with 6.0 and may well work with Sonoma which is still a long ways off. I have a lot more to worry about a lot sooner than when we will get around to Sonoma. But I do plan to gradually get more experienced with Crystal over the next couple years which is about soonest I figure RB would stop working. That should be plenty of time for even me to be ready. ;)

As stated in previous emails....
the thought of changing all RB reports to Crystal and changing all menus
along with everyone's favorites make me
want to stay with the current 5.1 version we have.

If it was only changing to Crystal, we could do that.
But losing all of the menus structures and favorites?????
Too much lost time.

I also will wait till that is fixed before moving to 6.0

Patrick, we must be clones. I have the same feelings.
I am not nearly as proficient in Crystal (I know I should be) as I am in
Report Builder and dread losing it. If indeed it goes away, I shall morn.

At least it's getting looked at to get fixed. I'm one of those geniuses that
has about 600 report builder reports hung off the menus. First I find out
report builder is going away, then I hear menu structure changes aren't
going thru, For me to convert I might as well just go purchase a new ERP
system.

I am having difficulty removing some RB report links from a menu structure.
I have removed the custom report links, but the menu structure says that
someone has referenced the reports in their favorites folder. I wrote a
quick report based off the FavItems table. But, when I checked that
person's favorite folder they didn't have the items in it. They had them
awhile back in v3.0, but they disappeared when we upgraded to v4.0. My
question is can I remove those records from the FavItem table some other
way? I would prefer not deleting the user entirely...not even sure if that
would remove them. Any suggestions?

Deleting a user will leave behind junk in FavItems, Security, and probably
elsewhere. I've had to re-create user ids, delete their leftovers, and
re-delete them to clean up. If you check closely in your Security table,
you'll find that Epicor even ships the product with some orphaned entries.

Sounds like you're on the right track. All our's converted over with
4.0. You should be able to find the entry in FavItems referencing the
UDxxxxxx menu id you assigned. Does the user have more than favorites
group minimized that it might be hiding in?

Nope. I saw the favorites (all areas) as that person was logged in.
There were NO links to the reports in that person's Vantage. So, there was
no way to delete them. I check the Item Maintenance within their toolbar
and it only showed the items we were looking at. I need to remove the
records from the table itself.
