Digest Number 3291

We are on 6.1 and still using it. I am trying my hardest to not write reports in it anymore but when all you have is a hammer...

I believe that it is 8.0 that it goes bye-bye. Needless to say I am trying to get my reports in order. Categorize which ones are the most important and write those in Crystal first. I am sure that some of the reports I have in Vantage aren't even being used. I know that most are duplicates that are just filtered for different information and saved to the menu that people didn't have to change filters every time they ran a report.

Needless to say the report that Jim showed me came back with 159 reports. This isn't even counting the ones that we use that aren't on the menu. That's where Mike's program comes in...

Wow, I've been out of the loop for a long time... No laughing... Am I to
understand that Report Builder has continued to function right up through
the versions newer than 5.1? For some reason, I had been under the
impression that Report Builder would no longer work when upgrading beyond
5.1 or to 6.0 or somewhere around there. If I was misinformed, what is the
upgrade path from 5.1 to the latest version? It appears as though we might
be in the dark ages over here! Is there anyone who wishes they had stayed
at 5.1?

Back in the day there was a program that I believe Mike Podlin wrote that
would tell you the names of each report in each library. You could then
print it out. I am looking at having to redo all our reports for 8.0 and
would like to organize them and pull out the ones we don't need anymore
based on what is actually on the Vantage Menu. It was nice to print out
the library contents and use a highlighter to sort the good from the bad.
