Merging two different E10 databases into one single multi-company environment

Has anyone ever heard of or attempted to take two completely different E10 databases from two different company servers. Extract all the data from one of those databases and then add it to the the second database to create a second company in a multi-company environment.

I have two independent companies that maybe merging and they want to be able to have just one instance of Epicor. Company one has been on Epicor for about 2 years and Company two has been on Epicor for 1 year.

Make a new warehouse on Company 1, and copy the entire dataset from Company 2 into Company 1’s second warehouse?

DMT might do the trick… You could utilize the DMT ā€˜build a company’ map of import files to extract the data from the old and import it into the new. You might just have to the basic company creation stuff in the new database in order to create enough structure for the DMTs to work.

In early days of Epicor 10.1 I saw on some call epicor showing a Tenant Migration Tool it may be just an internal tool, but chances are Epicor has a tool where you can move data from 1 company to another.

But, i would probably pefer to use DMT because if you have plans to use Multi-Company you may need to harmonize setup data basically, treat them as a new implementation.

Use the opportunity to make their company, inherit your standards.

I’m with the DMT of course if the two old databases use the same company is you would have to address that.

Other point to note is making sure you set the transaction numbers before you start any transaction imports. This allows you to ā€œbackfillā€ with closed data e.g. closed sales orders which you might need for sales analysis.

Planning the process is the key.
