Merry Christmas! - I want to take this moment, before i post the rest of this “off topic” post to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I know that this is a worldwide forum, so there are many beliefs, but as a Christian, I find this time of year to be one of the richest holidays. I hope that you all have a great time with family and friends.

Now… onto the good stuff… I asked my Grandson (10 year old Timothy, named after me) for a song he would like to have re-created using AI, and i asked him what style. He said “What about Go Tell It On The Mountain (A traditional Christmas song) done in Rap/Hip-hop”… I thought… hey, why not… then I proceeded down a road using AI to generate something I felt was amazing.

  1. I first asked ChatGPT to lookup the song and rewrite the words for rap/hip-hop… i also asked it to generate the style description for the Music Generator called Suno.com. Suno is a semi-controversial AI engine because it “replaces” real humans (not really, but that is what is being said).
  2. After looking at the words that Chat created, I felt that it was going to be good… I then took the words and style and pasted that into Suno. When it delivers music, it always gives 2 versions… both were good, but one was exceptionally good. Here is that version: Go Tell It - Rap/Hiphop
  3. BUT WAIT… there’s more… i thought… what if i took those same exact words, and asked for it to be sung in a 1950’s doo-wap style… I just didnt realize how much RAP words could be sung in a doowap style… new tune, but wow… crazy good: Go Tell It - Doo Wap
  4. WELL.. i could not leave this alone… I thought…what if these same words were done in Appalation Spring/Gershwin style… well.. here goes nothing.. another new tune, same words, but whole new feel: Go Tell It - Appalatian Spring
  5. THEN i took this final version, and asked for it to be “covered” (same tune, same words, different style) with an orchestration, lush strings, choir, etc… Go Tell It - Orchestration & Choir

So there you go.. one song, one set of words, four different styles… My Christmas adventure, my learning experience. I was blown away by how advanced AI is at generating various music styles in just a few minutes.

Thanks for sharing this adventure with us (and with your grandson - he will definitely learn and grow up in a different world than we did!).
