I would like to stay with Yahoo. I have been on this group for over 12 years.
The emails sent to the group are forwarded to me at my work email and I have 2 pst files with almost every email send since 2000 to the group.
Using Outlook, it is very easy to search for topics of interest.
I do understand the features might be better in other venues, but I guess I'm just old school.
Some sites like you mentioned going to are blocked by different corporations, so we would need to take that into consideration when / if switching to something else.
Just like the poll / survey link, it's blocked here.

My 2 cents,
Thanks,
Jim Moore

Ditto too. You need to understand the history of how this email group started and the main purpose that it serves. This email group was started by the Vantage Midwest User Group and the company's that made up their membership. I would think that any changes should go back through this User Group for approval. Anyone can attend the meetings and bring items to the table for discussions.

If you would like to create something new on your own then have at it. You will need to get people to join in to your idea and participate with it. That is exactly how this OneList got its start and how it has grown. The OneList has a 16 year history of helping key people in their company's use Vantage.

Just my 2 cents and I happen to be one of several original VMUG members involved with starting the OneList.

Les, when and where are the Vantage Midwest User Group meetings?

Ditto too. You need to understand the history of how this email group
started and the main purpose that it serves. This email group was
started by the Vantage Midwest User Group and the company's that made up
their membership. I would think that any changes should go back through
this User Group for approval. Anyone can attend the meetings and bring
items to the table for discussions.

If you would like to create something new on your own then have at it.
You will need to get people to join in to your idea and participate with
it. That is exactly how this OneList got its start and how it has grown.
The OneList has a 16 year history of helping key people in their
company's use Vantage.

Just my 2 cents and I happen to be one of several original VMUG members
involved with starting the OneList.

I would like to stay with Yahoo. I have been on this group for over 12
years.
The emails sent to the group are forwarded to me at my work email and I
have 2 pst files with almost every email send since 2000 to the group.
Using Outlook, it is very easy to search for topics of interest.
I do understand the features might be better in other venues, but I
guess I'm just old school.
Some sites like you mentioned going to are blocked by different
corporations, so we would need to take that into consideration when / if
switching to something else.
Just like the poll / survey link, it's blocked here.

My 2 cents,
Thanks,
Jim Moore

You should probably modify your poll though jose.. even if we stay or go
elsewhere..we still need better moderators.. I don't think the two
choices are mutually exclusive of one another..

Lets take a poll and see what happens? Problem is not everyone will
vote. I made it so that you can only vote once

The next one is 11/09 and is in Schiller Park, IL. There is a fee for the meetings. See http://www.vantageusers.org/

Congrats to Manasa and to Jose, it will be good to have some more active
moderators as things go forward.

Sorry to drag this out a bit further and I don't mean to be causing a
ruckus, but I do need to respond to Les here...

I don't think anyone wanted to start something new in order to break up the
Yahoo Group, I think the talk was more focused on getting a couple more
active moderators who could handle things much better than they are
currently, and actually be moderators, and if moving was potentially the
only possibility to do that, then it came up as a more realistic topic. But
your response also bothers me more than just a little bit. While knowing the
history of something is nice, just because it's the history doesn't mean it
also needs to be the future as well. I also disagree that the VMUG has
ownership of this group and anything the group wants to do shouldn't need to
be run by them first, the group belongs to the users, especially considering
that the only real connection between the two outside of the original
mailing list being started by members of that group.

Unless I am mistaken, this group is meant to be a resource for discussion,
assistance and support from user to user.

As time goes by, both the Epicor Products, and the tools available on the
web evolve. While I know not everyone here is an IT Professional, I think
the vast majority of us are, and as an IT professional you really need to
evolve over time in order to best serve your purpose. That certainly should
apply to this group, and to any group, company or institution. To
automatically dismiss or talk negatively about an idea because it's a change
and not at least discuss the possible ways that the users of this group can
potentially leverage those tools and services to let us have a more
comprehensive and enriched user interaction is a disservice to all of the
users of this group, as well as all the end users those in this group are
supporting.

Not saying we need to change anything, I think this group works extremely
well given what is available through a free service on yahoo, but to not
acknowledge that there are some extreme limitations and there are
possibilities and bits of technology out there that could majorly enhance
the group and its effectiveness is actually counterproductive in the long
run.

If no one thought of ways to improve, change, and evolve, then most of our
jobs wouldn't even exist in the first place.

Respect and learn from history, but always look towards the future.

Ditto too. You need to understand the history of how this email group
started and the main purpose that it serves. This email group was started
by the Vantage Midwest User Group and the company's that made up their
membership. I would think that any changes should go back through this User
Group for approval. Anyone can attend the meetings and bring items to the
table for discussions.

If you would like to create something new on your own then have at it. You
will need to get people to join in to your idea and participate with it.
That is exactly how this OneList got its start and how it has grown. The
OneList has a 16 year history of helping key people in their company's use
Vantage.

Just my 2 cents and I happen to be one of several original VMUG members
involved with starting the OneList.
