Fascinating. Just tried the consolidated financial reports in the standard
Training DB... I didn't think there was ever ANY simultaneous visibility
of multi-company data?! Does it do that anywhere besides the financial reports?

More segregated would be better here. Sort of a
security-through-obscurity, since that's about the best Vantage offers.

Wasn't going to ;) They encourage us to setup testing & training copies,
but this would be a different situation. As far as head counts go, the
only person that would be using it is already a constant "seat" any time
he's here.

Hi All,
Question about setting up multiple companies in Vantage: What if any
advantage is there to creating an additional company in our current
(single-comp) database, vs setting it up in a "stand alone" copy (like a
"training" DB) ?

We have an extra little corporation here that really only exists on
paper that we need to setup minimal G/L functionality for. Putting it
into a stand-alone copy of Vantage looks like the best option to me, but I
wanted to consider all the options.

-Thanks,

Wayne,

We have 3 companies in Vantage, and for us, separate databases wouldn't
work. For one, if you have the companies in the same database, it is simple
to get consolidated financial statements by setting up another consolidated
company and running the financials for the other companies from there.
Also, our users at each site need the ability to 'change company' and look
at other companies transactions. Lastly, to have a separate database for
the company is MUCH more expensive licensing-wise (if you tell epic or you
are doing it).

I would recommend one database if you plan on consolidating financials.
