Not sure if this is possible but we have Supplier A that supplies us a part in a roll of 50 and Supplier B supplies us a part in a roll of 100. We have a Roll setup as a Part Specific UOM and use it for a variety of parts and up until now, it’s served us well. However, I’m hesitant to create a second Roll UOM like RL100 or something because I feel it will set a dangerous precedent that others may follow instead of updating the conversion per part and instead creating new UOMs. I saw on Supplier Price List you can override the Conversion but I’m unclear how that works and it does not look like it will do what I was hoping it would. Any other suggestions?
Well - I guess there is a solution and it’s that you can override it on the PO itself. That’s fine I guess because I can set the UOM Conversion to match the default supplier which is what PO Suggestions will drive. When we manually select the other supplier, it will be a manual PO anyway and the buyer can update it there. She’s aware of the issue so hopefully we get it straight going forward. Previous to this issue, she did not know she could leverage different UOMs like that.
The best way to handle this would be to create a Supplier price list for both suppliers and put their specific conversion there. This would make sure that regardless of which supplier is chosen, you will have their conversion applied.
@jkane - I couldn’t get the UOM Conversion Override to work on the Supplier Price List. It kept telling me that I can’t override the inventory UOM or something like that. Even if I selected an alternate UOM on that price list entry. Could be user error, though. I don’t work in there very often.
Can you post how the UOM Class is set up?
What are the Inventory and Purchase UOMs for the part in question?
EA is the base UOM and we’re trying to use RL (Roll) and then define a Roll on the part to be 50 EA.
But is the PUM on the part set to Roll?
Yes.
Last thing is did you set up a conversion on that part for the roll?
yes. on that specific part I set it so 1 Roll = 50 EA.
