The change log exists in earlier versions as well but must be activated in
the Business Activity Manager in the Utilities menu. I think it was
introduced in 5.1. However use it with caution! Select logging only for
those entries you are truly interested in. The associated horror story with
that is that a Vantage user activated change logs for all fields and in a
couple of days the database grew from a few Megs to multiple Gigs!

Sure, if your using 8.01 there is a Change Log Viewer, this will
document the date and who created the new record, even if there is not a
revision created.

Not that I know of, unless a change log (BAM) was turned on.

If you have the change log turned on, you would see an entry in the first
date listed for that part number. So for this example, on 5/9/2006
"SAnderson 11:37:43 New Record"

This is true for both 6.1 and 8.0

You might be able to use Business Activity Manager and define the fields you want to monitor.

Then you would goto Change Log under Actions for that part and see what information is there.
