My bad!

After going into change log maintenance and selecting all the fields for the
part table, I was able to see changes reflected in the change log in part
maintenace. I finally found the "Setting Up Change Log Tables" help topic
after a few minutes of digging. The changes weren't being logged by
default, so I erroneously assumed it was the same as previous releases.

In version 5.2, the change log functionality introduced for Sales Orders and
Purchase Orders has been expanded to include 31 more tables including the
original 6 related to Purchase Orders and Sales Orders. The part table was
one of the tables that had this functionality added.

In addition, 5.2 will give you the ability to determine what field (when
changed) will trigger a change log entry. In 5.1, if you change any field on
the sales order it will automatically trigger a change log entry. In 5.2 you
will be able to determine which fields warrant a change log entry so that
the related change log contains only the information you're interested in.

The 31 tables that have had this functionality extended to it are:

revisions, when you approve a revision, an entry is made to the change log.

So for future tracking, you could enter data into the part revision change
log. However, for parts that have no revisions, your only only history is
transactions accrued against the part.

added and when the status (active vs. inactive) of a part may have changed.
We are trying to maintain the timing of when a part may become inactive and
then used again. Also, can the user id be tracked with this information so I
will know who did it as well as when? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
