Are your lines Centrex where there is a Dax number like 9 or 8?
Perhaps the other computer has the Dax# 9 or 8 configured in the dial settings.

Subject: [Vantage] (O.T. Modem & long distance connection)
Hello!
Sorry for the off topic post, but I am desperate, and have an impatient
engineer on my case. I have a new XP Pro SP2 (firewall disabled) client. I
installed a modem. I connect when dialing a local exchange, or 800 number. I
do not connect when using a long distance area code. I have no dial code
rules created. I have verified that there are no toll restrictions on the
phone jack I am using. I have another XP SP2 machine that uses the same jack
and connects to long distances exchanges just fine. I think it's just a
configuration issue but I have run out of ideas, and time.
Any help GREATLY appreciated.
