ODBC on Terminal Server

Paul, I have done this before. I will have to check some notes but I think
you need to check your security in regedt32. Check Microsoft and search on
terminal server and odbc.

The Merant ODBC driver isn't listed under the administrator or user accounts
in the Drivers tab of the windows ODBC Data Source Administrator so I cannot
create system or user DSNs.

I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling Progress to see if that makes
a difference.

Paul.

I have set up a new Windows 2000 terminal server to support our growing user
base. As per the Epicor guidelines I've installed Progress with the latest
patch on the terminal server and run the Vantage client install selecting
the terminal server option. We're on Vantage 5.20 at the moment and will be
upgrading to 6.10 next year.

The problem I've found is that the Merant ODBC driver isn't installed on the
terminal server so much of our reporting is unavailable to the users logged
into that server. Our existing terminal server has the ODBC driver running
correctly although that machine was originally set up under Vantage 5.10 so
I suspect there is a difference in the client installation.

Epicor support here in the UK have suggested that I install a full copy of
Vantage on the terminal server rather than the usual client install but
before I go ahead and try that does anyone have any other suggestions or
tips for getting ODBC running?

I installed the full version of Progress 9.1D from the 5.2 CD on my T.S. and the ODBC Drivers installed fine.

Paul,

Try logging in as one of your terminal server users, going into the ODBC
control panel, and see if you can add the data source manually. We have
a small terminal server install, so for each user I set up I log in and
have to manually configure their ODBC. Having it correct on the Admin
profile is not enough.

HTH,
AE
The Merant ODBC driver isn't listed under the administrator or user accounts
in the Drivers tab of the windows ODBC Data Source Administrator so I cannot
create system or user DSNs.

I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling Progress to see if that makes
a difference.

Paul.
