OT: Automated e-mail

Thanks to all who replied. Mike P got in touch with me offline and set
me up with a way to use SMTP via his Auto Reports program. It is working
great.

Todd

Todd -

When I was working with another firm, Technical Services, Inc. in Ames,
Iowa, I purchased a report viewer & scheduler, that you can set up to
schedule reports to run & email to others, and/or purchase to allow them
to run reports on their PC without full crystal. The email, when setup,
to be automatic, I believe is the SMTP option, as the other would
require the approval message that Todd is getting with his current
program.

From $35, and as low as $29 per license in multiple qtys. I know I used
one license primarily, and scheduled most standard reports.

I have been using Mike Podlin's Auto Reports for years to generate and
e-mail reports to users. I recently moved that program to a different
machine and since doing so I am getting the "another program is trying
to use Outlook to send a message" You have to click YES to allow it to
send. Kind of defeats the automation. I cannot for the life of me find
where to turn that 'feature' off so it will send without input.

I had this problem a few years ago with a certain version of outlook. I
used a little free program called "clickyes" to get around it.
Have not used it quite awhile but still have it here if you would like to
try it.

Todd,

Not sure what version of Outlook you are using but I believe one of the
security releases last year enabled this. Try using the ADMPACK utility
from Microsoft to reset some of the security settings.

Here is a link.
