[OT] Automate Sending Email

Todd,
Here's an off the shelf solution. Has come in handy from time to time.
http://www.iopus.com/beee.htm

iOpus(r) BEE

BEEE is a unique, award-winning email utility that automates the vast
majority of your email tasks. It helps you email-enable almost anything!
This "Email-Bee" lets you automatically email designated files or folders
at specified time intervals. Just select the file you want to send, add
your email information and enter the time interval to send the file.
Additionally you may specify the criteria that should be met (send it
always, only if changed, or if it has grown by a specific amount of
bytes), and the program handles the connection to your provider and
sending the file via email. BEEE can automatically zip compress the files
before sending, making the mailing of even large files a snap.

Regards, Lee

I am not exactly sure why but someone here has asked me if there is a way
to automatically send an email message. Same destination, Content and
time of day - every day. We are Outlook 2000/Exchange 2000. I've played
with Mailto: and it will create the message OK but I can't figure out how
to send it. Task Scheduling won't be a problem once I can figure out how
to send it.

Or is there another way, preferably freeware, to generate and send a
simple text only message?

Thanks,
-Todd Caughey

Thanks, I've just downloaded and am working on making it run (strugling with smtp setup for Exchange). Looks like exactly the thing and the price is right.

I generate e-mail's and send them using the MAPI.OCX of Visual Basic. What
types of messages are you trying to create and send.

I currently use blat(command line tool and can be used in batch files) to
email text files to myself on a nightly basis(the results of my Vantage
backup). I am also writing some PERL scripts now that use the NET::SMTP
module to email myself the results of some parsing on the text files that I
have been sending myself with blat. Both are free and easy to use.

I've done something similar here for people who send the same
attachment to the same group of people periodically, but it doesn't
run automatically the same time everyday. I used the VBA code in
Outlook to make some macros that a user launches by clicking a
toolbar button that I created. The macro adds the Contact Group in
the To: line, adds the subject, a short message, inserts the
attachment, and sends the e-mail all with one click. This doesn't
exactly apply to your question, but it is a neat way to automate what
can otherwise be a fairly complex task for the computer
challenged... I'm not sure how you would send it automatically the
same time everyday. Let me know if you'd like to see a snipit of
code.
