1) Install sound card & speakers in server, same as the recent discussion
on "shift whistles" from the server.
2) Plug work station power strip into a "clapper"
3) Clap Off
4) Delay
5) Clap on.
6) Repeat if desired ;)

You can use shutgui.exe from the resource kit for NT4.0, not sure if it
works on win2k.

PCanyware is the best OVERT system to control workstations that I've used.

Problem is: I VNC to this workstation (a Windows NT 4.0 workstation that serves as Web Componenet Server and does our FTP uploading when we need to send Epicor our database). Right now I can't VNC for some reason. I want to reboot it from home. I can get to the server, but not the workstation. It has no monitor, so other than calling to tell someone to push the reset button, I was looking for an alternative.

Troy,
Try this freeware shutdown\restart utility if the workstation is a NT/2000
box. http://www.sica.com/freestuf/shutdown.htm

You can then use a command line to reboot.

You will want to set up IP forwarding on your server. I would use a
non-standard port to decrease the chance that someone from the internet
would find your active VNC server at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5900 and try to
brute force your password.

I'd set it up with ssh also so your password is not sent in clear text.

Jeff

We don't have any access from outside the company. I initiate the VNC connection from inside the company when connecting from home.
