As it turns out Vantage 5.2 needs IE 6. The server only has IE 5.

I have tried all the obvious things and cannot seem to get my
Vantage server to connect to the internet. We do not have a
firewall just a router for our DSL. I tried the ICW but it didn't
work. I can't even ping anything on the internet.

It is an older server that has been managed by many of my
predecessors. Some one did something and I am not sure what.

Any suggestions?

Doug:

In the TCP/IP settings, you need to make sure the default gateway is set to the ip address of the router and possibly set the DNS server ip address to that supplied by your ISP. Check another computer on your network to see how it sucessfully connects.

#1 - get a firewall

Then check to see if there are any proxy client service running - if so stop it and uninstall the program. On Win98 machines this was WinProxy so I'm not sure what it might be on a server. Even if not using it just the existence of it can mess up connection if you don't have a proxy server to feed it. Just a thought.
