Part Rev Issues - Vantage 8.03

Hi Joe.... unfortunately I don't get the opportunity to check this board as often as I'd like.

As for the "Part Rev" issue... we have taken another approach. We are using the Product Configurator with a lookup table... and our business relies heavily on the use of the pc.. so, we're talking with the custom coding department to see if there's a resolution down that path.

Thanks for the input though!
Enjoy your week's end,
Holly

Did you originally engineer the Ballscrew jack, rev A, with Rev A of the flange, coupling and worm gear?

Then you decided to make a change to the worn gear, rev a -> rev b? correct?

If you don't change the ballscrew, and re-engineer it from Rev A to Rev b, it will never change. Technical the ball screw with the new flange is a new part/rev right?

Does this help?

Sorry for the delay.. I've been out of the office.

Okay, let's see...

Working with the configurator to select (from lookup files) the requested components for an assembled part (like a ballscrew jack)...

... if the flange is rev A... the coupling is rev A... the worm gear is rev B.... and the entire part string populated is rev A, the part details returned will only show those at "rev A" and leave out the "rev B" gear. The majority of our business is made to order. An assembly can almost always be made up of a collection of parts that may not be at the same rev. (does that make more sense?) It's hard to explain.

We don't understand why the logic only wants to bring back (from the lookup tables) those parts that have the save rev as the completed assembly.

Any suggestions from that?
Thanks for trying to help!

Enjoy your weekend!
Holly

Yes, that is correct Active=Approved.

I beleive it's a recommendation.

Let me know if it helps.

Epicor's Support hasn't been able to resolve this one... maybe someone out there can assist?

During our implementation, we have developed our many product configurators to use "filelookup" tables. The majority of our business is configured parts, so it's quite vast.

One of our current issues is this... if the base of an assembled component is at Rev B, and two of the parts that are required for the assembly of this component are at Rev C... then the "Get Details" will pull in only the parts that are at the same Rev as the base component, the 2 parts at Rev C will not tie in. We must find a way around this... as this case is very much a constant in our business.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Could you expand on this? I, personally, don't understand your issue. Can you
"draw some pictures"? My experience has been that the effective date is used
when choosing Revs. Are you trying to store inventory at certain revs?

Mark W.
Holly,

Also describe how the file lookups and the part revs are related. I
would think you would be using some keep when rules to determine
whice parts you are keeping.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I've been told it's important to only have one active rev per part.
