Hello groupies - been awhile since I posted here but I have a
question I think some of you are familiar with. We are hashing Point
of use for hardware here at WPI. We can all agree on how to handle
the shop part of it, but we seem to not agree on how best to automate
things with Vantage. We have been keeping track of things to
the "nth" degree to keep inventory straight and we realize that we
are way overdoing it and losing hours of time. We want to start
making it like a kanban, but how will vantage come into play? I
believe backflushing will keep the job costing straight, but we
haven't used it thus far, and it remember backflushing being
a "chancey" practice. Anyone use it for hardware? Any other helpful
hints will be appreciated! I am concerned about our inventory
numbers getting skewed within the system with backflushing as it only
assigns the number needed for the quantity of parts completed. As we
all know, with the human factor things get lost or damaged - how do
you keep your inventory numbers correct? Thank you in advance for
your replies!!
