Programming help

The help doesn't read that way, updates/mapping only occurs when getting
details during job creation.
You may want to test to verify for yourself.

My Understanding of the form map is that it links the fields, so if I update
the info in the PART Table, that info gets updated in the JOBHEADER. I want
the info from the part table to write to the jobheader at the creation of
the job, but as the part info changes, I want the job info to remain the
same, so mapping the fields I don't think will work.

We have three custom fields that we put info in when entering new
parts. These fields can and will change, over the life of the part.
What we want to be able to do is write these fields to the job header
when a new job is created. I have customized the Job header form to
accomodate the three fields and added a command button to import the
info from the PART table. However I am a novice to progress
programming so I do not know how to write the progress/vb script that
will populate the three fields on the JobHeader form. I know that
with out an add on module I can't write directly to the data base,
but my understanding is I can populate fields on a form, which are
inturn linked to the database, any help or direction where I can go
for a crash course in Progress Programming would be appreciated.
Before you program any further look into "System Management/Vantage Basic/VB
Form Map". This will map vbform fields from one area to another.
