Progress database driver

I'm an Office odbc/SQL junkie - but why would you WANT all your clients to have odbc access?

You are just asking for undesirable performance problems if anyone in the building can start hitting the server with (likely unoptimized) SQL queries via Office apps, etc.,.

If you DO deploy to all, lock it down with password authorization required and HEAVILY limit who has that password!

but the installation process no longer puts the Progress database

What version? I assume you mean ODBC drivers? The ODBC drivers installed
on my machine. I think it is because I installed thre openedge network
client on my machine.

No ODBC driver is required for *standard* V8 installations

When I first went live my own PC would not show the Progress Driver in ODBC
Manager either. So I did some investigation and here is the email I sent the
Epicor technician person who came out and did my initial install.

OK here is what I found.

In comparing my registry key [HKLM\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Drivers]
to another machine that the ODBC install worked I saw one difference.

In my registry the (Default) key had a Value of blank, nothing. In the
Registry that the ODBC driver did work it's (Default) value was "(value not
set)" san quotes.

I looked at both keys and the (Default) key on mine had different Binary
Data in it than the other (Default) key.

I then deleted the (Default) value on my system and then the system
automatically created another (Default) key with a Value of "(value not
set)" san quotes.

I went into Data Sources (ODBC) and System DSN and lo and behold the
DataDirect Driver was available.

You can log into the FTP server and download the kit.

Use your EpicWeb username and password for access. Open the Vantage/ODBC
folder. There's an ODBC folder under Vista as well but I'm not sure how up to
date it is.
