Progress ODBC

When you install the patch then Progress will first install the software in
a temporary directory. A sub directory of the temp directory contains the
latest datadirect driver.

It is part of the Progress patches 9.1D07 and 9.1D08. I think you can
download them from the Epicor customer support site.

Where do you get the Data Direct 4.1 driver? Is it a free download from
Progress or Data Direct? If not, what is the cost?
Thanks

If you are on Progress 9.1D patch 7 then you can install the Data Direct 4.1
odbc driver. I recommend anyone this driver.

Regardless the driver you are using always check the default isolation
level. The setting at installation time creates locks in the database. You
should always change the default isolation level into "READ UNCOMMITTED" for
those clients using ODBC only for reporting purposes.

Hi,

We've been working on a few reports in Crystal using an ODBC connection.

These seemed to work fine while only one person was developing and using the ODBC connection.

As soon as we started distributing the report and letting multiple users access ODBC, we started having connection problems. I've called Epicor a few times & was told to adjust my DB settings with the Progress Explorer tool. This really hasn't helped.

Have any of you had ODBC problems when multiple users are accessing the DB?

Any ideas how to fix this?

We're Vantage 6.1 and Progress 9.1D06.

BTW,

The latest call to Epicor resulted in the tech saying to put in Progress patch 08.

I'm downloading now.

Thanks,

Bruce Ordway

I am trying to get an odbc connection from ASP on IIS to Vantage.
The connection from the IIS server in Excel works, but through ASP I
get the following error: Specified driver could not be loaded due to
system error 5 (MERANT 3.60 32-BIT Progress SQL92 v9.1D).

Any idea what "system error 5 is?

Thanks,

Rob
I found this on a message board after a quick google search - it might apply to your situation:

Or simply:
On filesystem, locate the oracle folder
give full control permissions to that folder on your IIS accounts
test
as it works, remove the iis acccounts from those
listed in "security" tab for that folder.
Test again: it should work!

Obviously - you would tweak the MFGSYSx folder (assuming the default db location)
