Look at the bright side, you get a second last meal!
One side of me is disappointed too, for the same reasons.
On the other hand though, a lot of folks at Epicor pulled an all-nighter last night and might like to have the weekend to recover. Honestly, they deserve that.
Donāt look if youāre easily offended.
In the future you can say, āRemember where you were on 7/19?ā
Too soon?
My body thinks every meal is its last meal
Apparently our IT dept had rolled out a new anti-virus policy dubbed, āIf you cannot boot your PC, you cannot get a virusā
7/19 is my Birthday, so thanks Crowdstrike for making it memorable I guess!
Iām out for the weekend. A moment of silence for all the IT folks who no longer have a weekend.
Happy Birthday @Noffie
Happy Bday!
All the crowdstrike stuff is external to me. Iām gonna drink beer.
Donāt worry, Iāll pour a little out for the homies.
Turns out, the real downtime was the epic post thread we made along the way!
This will be a one to remember
Me too, just sat back and watched the show⦠Really sorry for everyone who was effected and had to suffer through it.
Ok, looked into it and was immediately disappointed, only because my travel addled brain thought it had something to do with Bobbyā¦
So now that my dream is gone, convince me to read any of his work, as Iām always looking for good stuff to read.
And, ladies and gentlemen, and assorted newts, I hereby present this to everyone.
100 points to all houses.
Do you like near realistic sci-fi and techno thrillers? Like the Martian?
The Bobbie verse is a series of awesome books about ābobā a human who wakes up 100+ years after his death to find out heās memories have been implanted on a computer
It uses real(ish) science and current theories in his story Dennis is a programmer a retired software engineer (the author)
I really like near realistic techno thrillers because they are always sci-fi that is just barely out of reach but close enough to be easily explained understood and quite plausible not āmagicā
The series is 4 books with a new one 5th coming in October
The other book I am reading is Called Outland of a series of two same author
This one is similar in terms of near realistic techno thriller
Yellow stone erupts and all goes to hell a couple of college kids stumble upon tech that can help
Sounds fascinating. Iāll grab a copy.
If you like audio books the reader for the Bobbie verse is my favorite he played Dark Side in the super man movies Ray Porter is his name and his reading is superb
If you enjoy those books LMK I have a list of others in the similar vein
I missed all the fun on Friday, apparently. Took the day off to work on my basement, came out of the darkness to see this thread and read the whole thing. Haha.
For some mysterious reason, my company seemed unaffected. I didnāt receive any emails or phone calls on Friday from work, so (after reading this thread) I assumed the worst and they just sent everybody home. But, instead, no issues, and it was just a normal work day.
Canāt explain why we got through unscathed⦠and sorry for those who had to battle it out. But at least this thread kept everyone entertained!
Wasnāt āBobā a Black Adder characterā¦
Yup
