Purchasing question

Hi Jeff, does the same part show up only sometimes? If one part never shows up, you might check to make sure the "generate suggestions" box is checked in the part master also. You probably already looked at this, but if it's a stocked part, and you it's in stock, or on the way, they wouldn't see a suggestion either. Depending on how the days supply, minimum buy, etc is set up they might have a suggestion to increase or expedite an existing PO.

Liz,

Thanks. That is what I thought was happening. Our engineers do
schedule the job and then purchasing runs suggestions, but SOMETIMES
a part doesnt show up to be ordered. I think that it is a user issue
and not a system issue.

Thanks again
Jeff

whether or not the part is marked purchase direct or not, and
whatever the leadtime is. The Lead time and Purchase direct should
be driven by the part master for that item. If you have a vendor
price break, and a vendor is marked as the default, then that lead
time has precedence over any others.

I have a question regarding adding an assembly to a job and then having
it appear under purchasing suggestions. We are running 6.10.532.

Let's say that we need Job 5 and it will contain part 1 that is in
assembly 2. And if you look at part 1 under the part master, it is
checked to be "Purchased Direct" and has a lead time of "999".

When our engineers start a job they pull over assembly 2 (with part 1
in it) thru Job Entry to Job 5. Now if you go to part 1 within Job
Entry and look at the lead time, it is "0" and the Purchase Direct may
OR may not be there.

The purchasing department says that they do not see demand if the Lead
Time is "0" or "Purchase Direct" isnt checked. So this is causing a
few head aches. But it doesnt happen on all of the jobs or assemblies.

Long way to go but here is the question....what drives the Lead Time
and Purchase Direct under Job Entry? It does not appear to be pulling
that info form the part master. I am not sure how this functions, but
I am wondering if it a "User" issue vs a "System" issue

Thank you in advance
Jeff
Hi Jeff,

First off, the engineers need to make sure they schedule the job, and then suggestions need to be re-run after that in order for the part to show up in their suggestions to buy. It should be there whether or not the part is marked purchase direct or not, and whatever the leadtime is. The Lead time and Purchase direct should be driven by the part master for that item. If you have a vendor price break, and a vendor is marked as the default, then that lead time has precedence over any others.

The purchasing department says that they do not see demand if the Lead

Long way to go but here is the question....what drives the Lead Time

that info form the part master. I am not sure how this functions, but
I am wondering if it a "User" issue vs a "System" issue

Thank you in advance
