Purchasing Requisitions

Thanks Steve, your list is very helpful. Also thanks for the heads up on not
being able to delete it once it's a po suggestion.

Patrick,

Here is a list of our requisition actions:

Managerial Approval
Mandatory: Yes (if managers submit reqs, they must also approve them)
Send to Purchasing: No
QA Review
Mandatory: No (required only for specific purchases)
Send to Purchasing: No
High Dollar Purchase
Mandatory: No (required only for purchases over a set dollar amount)
Send to Purchasing: No
Submit to Purchasing
Mandatory: Yes (all appropriate reviews must be completed by this point)
Send to Purchasing: No ** more on this one below
Final Approval
Mandatory: No (you don't get a choice if Send to Purchasing is Yes)
Send to Purchasing: Yes

We just recently added the Final Approval step and changed the Submit to
Purchasing step to _not_ Send to Purchasing. The Final Approval step can
only be performed by Buyers. This gives them the ability to reject a
requisition for whatever reason. Once you complete a task that is marked
Send to Purchasing, Vantage turns it into a Purchasing Suggestion and there
is no way to reject it or even delete it. With our new method, the Buyer
can review the requisition for completeness, including QA Review and High
Dollar Purchase if appropriate.

We spent a fair amount of time training everyone to use it correctly and it
still took a while to get everyone on track, but it is working very well for
us now.

Could some give me an example of your "Requisition Actions"?
